Neighbourhood Watch

In order for residents to be kept informed, it is planned to place regular updates on the Notice Board in front of the shops.

Although crime on the estate is relatively low, residents should be vigilant. Currently there is a spate of thefts from cars and two members of this committee have been victims of these thefts. Over the last few weeks there has been incidents every week where several cars have been unlocked and valuables taken. Don’t leave anything in the car overnight and these thefts have happened to houses where there are gates and even railings.

Residents are encouraged to register with OWL (www.owl.co.uk.) for regular updates on crime in the area.

To contact the Police phone 0845 33 00 222 or in an emergency dial 999. If you have information about a

crime, please ring Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

For more information please visit the police website www.herts.police.uk.

Wards Community Council

Moor Park and Sandy Lodge Residents Association have commenced discussions with neighbouring wards to form a Community Council under the Localism Act 2013, which enables areas such as ours without a Parish Council, to have more effective representation particularly in relations with Three Rivers District Council. We will be reporting more fully on progress in our next newsletter.

Save our Northwood

Many of you signed the petition objecting to the development of Northwood and will be pleased to know that London Transport have withdrawn the current application and agreed to consult with the local community in future plans. Tony Ellis, who chairs the Campaign Group, has accepted our invitation to give a short talk at the AGM on 15 May about the latest developments.

As you are aware, we rely on a number of dedicated people to distribute important information to Residents. This takes place two or three times a year. We would welcome extra help for distribution in Astons Road, Wolsey Road and Moor Lane. Please contact Joan Roy on 01923 842538 if you are able to help.
