Neighbourhood Watch

Break-ins and Robberies - Although Moor Park is a low crime area we have had a number of break-ins recently and we need to be vigilant. We continue to have robberies from vehicles. Items like golf clubs, laptops and sat navs should never be left in the car, even in the boot, day or night.

Theft of Alloy Wheels from Vehicles - Earlier this year alloy wheels were being stolen, mainly from BMWs, where the thieves have removed all the alloy wheels from the vehicle. Please ensure that your wheels are protected with locking wheel nuts and, if possible, put two locking wheel nuts on so that they are diagonally across. This prevents the thief from snapping the one locking wheel nut which would normally be left on the vehicle. As an alternative, park so that it is difficult to remove wheels from one side of the vehicle. This deters thieves as they are after a full set.

To contact the Police phone 0845 33 00 222 or in an emergency dial 999. If you have information about a crime, please ring Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Future Events

Litter Day - After 2 abortive attempts because of the weather, we have planned a clean up day for Sunday 10th May at 4.30 p.m. Anyone interested in helping, please meet at the Moor Park Shops. Grabbers will be provided! Thank you to those who braved the weather and turned up on the previous occasions.

Annual Golf Day - This will be take place at Northwood Golf Club on Thursday 25th June 2009 at 2.30 p.m. ALL GOLFERS WELCOME. For more details please contact Jerry Asquith at jerry@asquith.com. A poster will be displayed nearer the time in the Residents Notice Board in front of the shops.

The Moor Park Lynda Jackson 10k and Junior Fun Run - This will take place on Sunday 27th September 2009. Plenty of time to get in training!

Traffic Problems - As always, there are complaints about the volume of traffic cutting through the estate. People known to members are using the Estate illegally. If you feel strongly about this amount of traffic coming through, we would ask you to talk to your friends with a view to cutting down the volume of traffic.
Distributors needed

As always, we would like to thank all our distributors for all their hard work on our behalf. We are always looking for new distributors to lessen the load on others but at the moment, we would particularly like offers of help for Moor Lane, Wolsey Road and Pembroke Road. Anyone interested should contact Joan Roy on 01923 842538. Thank you in advance for your help.

Spring Wardrobe Life Laundry

Eastbury Farm School is trying to raise funds (£35k) for much needed playground equipment at the school. Can we have your unwanted designer labels to sell on the Eastbury Farm School Association eBay site? Clothes, bags, shoes, scent and anything else you can spare. We will even come and collect it!

Secondly, as a further fund raising venture, we will be auctioning off most of the parents in June. Can we add any Moor Park people? We need professionals – can you teach piano/golf/yoga or do you have other desirable skills? If so, we would like to hear from you. Please get in touch with Pandora on 020 8428 6863 or e mail her at proofme@ntlworld.com. Thank you on behalf of the Eastbury Farm School Association.

Can you help?

The Residents’ Association has been contacted by a historian regarding the renowned architect, Blunden Shadbolt. He lived from 1879 to 1949 and designed houses in the Tudor Revival or Arts & Crafts Movement style. It has been suggested that he exhibited a timber framed house at the Ideal Home Exhibition sometime in the mid 1920s’ and that the house was then erected on the Moor Park Estate. If anyone has any knowledge of this house, could they please contact the Residents’ Association.

This will take place in the Orangery of Moor Park Golf Club on Thursday 16th April 2009 at 8 p.m.

Guest Speaker: The Hon. Anne Main, MP for St. Albans.
